TEXTILE PRINTING

Neither the advertising nor the clothing industry could do without the possibility of printing on textiles. On various types of materials, among other things, a company logo or original graphics are applied, which makes a given piece of clothing look attractive. Two technologies are currently used for printing on clothing - DTG and DTF. What exactly does it mean and what is the difference between them?

Printing technique

DTG (Direct to Garment) printing is a method of applying an image to clothing, which involves heating the graphic in a special press directly into the material. DTG uses a wide range of colors and reflects the design with great accuracy. DTF (Direct to Film) printing technology has gone a step further. In this case the image is printed not on fabric, but on PET film, which is then transferred onto the material and fixed. The colors of the DTF print perfectly match the design because they do not react with the color of the fabric.

Print durability

The print made using DTG technology is durable, although its quality decreases with the wear of the fabric on which it was applied. After several dozen washes, the colors of the graphics clearly fade and the shapes lose their clarity. This problem does not occur in prints made by DTF printers. They are extremely durable and do not depend on the properties of the fabric. They are also flexible, so they don't start to crumble.

Printer Usage

In practice, DTG printers are used almost exclusively for cotton clothing, and in particular for printing on T-shirts. Modern DTF printing allows you to print on various types of fabrics, including polyester, which is commonly used to produce sportswear. DTF printers are also much more efficient than DTG printing.

What materials can be processed in a Flatbed printer?

Flatbed printing is one of the most modern digital printing technologies, enabling high-quality prints on various materials. The Flatbed plotter, equipped with specialist inks, allows printing on both rigid and flexible materials. In this article, we will present which materials can be processed using flatbed printing technology.

Printing on rigid materials

Flatbed printers are capable of printing on a variety of rigid materials such as: wood, metal, glass, ceramics and plastic. These materials are usually thicker and require special inks that adhere well to these unusual surfaces. Using inks that are tailored to a specific substrate ensures that you achieve the desired results. For example, UV-curable inks are often used for printing on wood and metal, as they provide excellent adhesion and durability of the print. Flatbed printers They can also print directly on acrylic or polycarbonate surfaces without the need for additional lamination.

Printing on flexible materials

Flatbed printers can also be used to print on flexible substrates such as vinyl, fabric, paper, canvas and foil. These materials also require special inks that are designed for durability and print quality. For example, solvent-based inks are often used for printing on vinyl because they provide fade resistance. Eco-friendly water-based inks can be used for printing on paper or fabric, providing vibrant colors. With the right ink selection, flatbed printers can produce beautiful prints with rich colors and sharp detail.
